Yacouba Sissoko & SIYA

Mali’s Yacouba Sissoko is a master of the kora, a 21-stringed instrument whose sound is readily associated with West African music. His performances have a magical effect on audiences as he skillfully transforms traditional songs and stories passed down from his forefathers into modern messages of peace, love, and harmony.

At Nexus, Sissoko’s quartet SIYA includes drums, bass, and n’goni — a traditional West African guitar.
