The New England premiere of Mountains Not for Profit, a short documentary by award-winning filmmakers Teton Gravity Research (TGR) in partnership with the Indy Pass, with additional support from BlackStrap. TGR is known for films such as Lindsey Vonn: The Final Season on HBO, Andy Irons: Kissed By God which premiered on Hulu, and a four-part film series on HBO called, Edge of The Earth.

Across North America, communities are reclaiming their local ski and snowboard areas — deepening the insurgent vibrancy of two of the rootsiest sports in outdoor recreation. The film is the story of four impactful, nonprofit mountains that have proven to buck the trend of aggressive capitalism to reclaim the soul of skiing. Shames Mountain (Terrace, BC), Whaleback Mountain (Enfield, NH), Black Mountain of Maine (Rumford, ME), and Antelope Butte (Shell, WY) represent the fabric of vibrant outdoor communities that come together to keep the mountains they love alive through volunteer time, donations, and (most notably) through enjoying the trails and riding the terrain.

These mountains are not for profit. They survive on a different currency — a social currency fed by the community — a community that lives to ski and snowboard without the frivolous glitz and glamor of some bigger resorts. The film brings to life the story and spirit of these vital mountains and the communities that rely on them.
