The program opens with Bennett’s Symphonic Songs for Band‘s rich sonorities and rhythmic flair, followed by Bernstein’s sparkling Candide Suite, full of wit and theatrical excitement. Chicago’s classic rock anthem “25 or 6 to 4” brings a burst of groove to the performance, while Broughton’s Silverado sweeps listeners into the grandeur of the American West. Moss’s Tribute to Count Basie captures the unmistakable swing and relaxed sophistication of Basie’s iconic big-band style in a lively, audience-pleasing setting.
