J.S. Bach’s Easter Oratorio & Magnificat

Upper Valley Baroque’s professional chorus and period instrument orchestra, led by artistic director Filippo Ciabatti, present an all-Bach program on themes of renewal and hope.

In the largest production of UVB’s season, the Easter Oratorio and Magnificat feature some of Bach’s most extensive instrumentations, including woodwinds, trumpets, and timpani. Nine accomplished vocal soloists will step out from the 23-member chorus to perform the arias, duets, and recitatives. The two major works will be complemented by Bach’s virtuosic yet graceful motet for double chorus, Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf, which translates to The Spirit helps us in our weakness.
