Although he’s just 23 years old, Lakota John is an old soul with a deep appreciation for roots music. In this solo “musical conversation” the singer/guitarist shares songs that showcase his love of folk and the blues and, through the sounds of the Native flute, his Indigenous heritage. The proud son of a musical Lumbee Nation family, he’s performed with the likes of Taj Mahal, Pura Fe, and Keith Secola.

LJ will be broadcasting live from Lumberton, North Carolina, the lands of the Lumbee Nation—50,000 members who’ve called the enchanting area’s swamps and cypress trees home since the mid-1700s.
