Based on a true story, Kinky Boots tells of struggling shoe factory owner Charlie. While in despair at his failed attempts to save the business, Charlie has a chance encounter with flamboyant drag queen Lola.
Her complaints about the inadequate footwear for her work lead to a bid to save the business by making custom footwear for drag queens. Charlie convinces Lola to be their footwear designer and these unlikely business partners struggle with the prejudice of the staff and Lola’s discomfort in the small town.
