Canadian fiddler, singer, and stepdancer April Verch knows how to put a fresh spin on old-time sounds.
Verch, a fiddle champion featured during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, is perhaps best known for playing traditional styles from her native Ottawa Valley. In concert, however, her dynamic performances pulse with of-the-moment immediacy and extend into bluegrass, country, and Americana styles.
Touring the world with her trio featuring Cody Walters (bass, banjo) and Alex Rubin (guitar, mandolin), Verch highlights the simple pleasures of acoustic instruments, voices, and percussive stepping in intimate conversation.
