Suppose a brood of spirited children organized a birthday bash. In that case, it might have looked very similar to Lebanon Opera House’s 100th anniversary in Colburn Park last Saturday: free live music, yard games, face painting, cake, and tasty kettle corn and lemonade.
Mr. Aaron, ‘the Pied Piper of preschoolers’ dazzled kids of all ages with his creative cadence of singalong-style music, while parading toddlers through the audience. Nature’s bright yellow confetti leaves fluttered and twirled in time with the children’s celebratory pomp and circumstance. The dazzling autumnal morning and Mr. Aaron’s festive clarinet procession were a perfect snapshot of this historic celebration.
After Mr. Aaron led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to LOH, we celebrated with a brief tribute from our Executive Director, Joe Clifford. Smiles abounded as we passed out hundreds of pieces of birthday cake. The Jacob Jolliff Band’s sweet mountain music sound and tight harmonies led us into the afternoon. The green was abuzz with activity; kids roving from one festive space to the next. The celebration was a syncopated rhythm of vibrance and joy, setting the stage for our next 100 years!
“LOH’s Birthday Bash was a wonderful celebration we’ve been talking about all weekend! There was fun for all ages between games, food, and music. My favorite part was dancing with my daughter to Mr. Aaron. He and his band were fantastic at engaging the crowd and playing music that kids and their adults could enjoy. It was so great to gather in community as we celebrated LOH.”
